February Favorites

Here is a look at my February through a miscellany of things worn, used, tried and loved. Though I didn't do much shopping this month, it was easy to pick out the things to share in this month's edition of favorites (the trickier task was fitting them into a single image!).

The newest item in my wardrobe, purchased at the end of January, is a boxy, striped top from H&M's Basics line. It's slightly cropped, so I pair it with black, high waisted jeans. My Swatch Tresor Noir Watch is my most-worn accessory lately. In addition to being useful, it's sentimental, as it was purchased it in the underground shopping mall at the Louvre! I've also been loving nude makeup, especially the Smashbox Lipstick in "Primrose," my perfect nude/pink lip color.

I stuck to a simple, natural skincare routine throughout February. I've been enjoying the Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream every morning (and some evenings) for cleansing and gentle exfoliating; you can read my full review here. Another staple in my routine is the Peter Thomas Roth Oilless Oil

Though this product feels like an oil, it's actually 100% purified squalane, a lipid that occurs naturally in animals and plants. It leaves my skin silky smooth, and because there's only one ingredient inside (which is found in our own skin cells), there's 0% chance that it will break me out. I don't even use face cream at the moment... just this!

Quite a few rainy days this month meant spending time inside, pretending it's summer with cups of pineapple-infused Mighty Leaf Tropical Green Tea. I've been reading some books I'll tell you about soon, as well as the latest women's fashion edition of T: The New Times Style MagazineThis has been one of my favorite magazines since high school, when I'd steal it away from my parents and drool over its oversized pages (not much has changed). On the front cover is Phoebe Philo, designer of Céline; inside are stories on style, culture, design and more.

If you like good animation, or maybe if, like me, you need a fairytale-like remedy for the one too many mystery/thrillers you've been watching, I'd recommend the Japanese anime film Wolf ChildrenI'm not even going to try to explain what this is about (trust me: I tried, I failed, I laughed... just go read the IMDb summary and you'll see what I mean). It won best animated film at the 2013 Japanese Academy Awards.

You know that picture of the kitten who looks in the mirror and sees his reflection as a lion? That's basically me, at the gym... but the point is, I have a tiny bit more muscle now, thanks to some dedicated workout sessions this month. Dream big, right?

What have you been loving this month?
